Point A Hotels has reported its room bookings have tripled after prime minister Boris Johnson announced the government roadmap to easing lockdown restrictions earlier this week.
The hotel group, which operates nine sites in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh, saw bookings rise by over 300% compared to an average day pre-roadmap announcement.
The hotel chain also recently announced a Staycation Guarantee booking policy, allowing guests flexible rebooking options or payment refunds, to accommodate the holidaymakers during the pandemic.
According to the group, the spike in hotel bookings is a “vital boost” for the industry, which has been the most affected by the government’s strict social distancing and lockdown measures.
Nic Wenn, managing director at Point A Hotels, said: “We are over the moon to see Brits confidently making holiday plans once again. I think this again highlights the importance of the hospitality sector in the recovery of the country as a whole.
“As a family-run business, we cannot wait to return our customers’ faith by providing them with a safe staycation, where they can come and enjoy everything that London, Glasgow or Edinburgh has to offer.”
